Community events in Huntsville are frequent and popular. The Walker County Fair & Rodeo kicks things off each March with a carnival, live entertainment and activities for kids of all ages. In April, the General Sam Houston Folk Festival commemorates the lifestyle and culture of the 19th century. The folk festival is a 20-year-plus tradition that gives locals a chance to experience and enjoy their heritage. Autumn brings the Fair on the Square event to Huntsville’s historic downtown; this event features exhibits, arts and crafts, food and entertainment. Finally, Huntsville celebrates the holidays with the Sam Houston Family Christmas Festival.

Huntsville newcomers can orient themselves to the city’s many landmarks by taking a driving or walking tour. The city has created two driving tours and several walking tours as a way to highlight the sights and sounds of Huntsville. With these tours you can discover the historic downtown, explore the Oakwood Cemetery and visit dozens of landmarks buildings, art murals and statues.
